Football Recap: Ellis Railroaders vs. Lincoln Leopards

Ellis took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They snuck past the Lincoln Leopards with a 48-44 win.

Ellis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carson Schartz out in front who rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Schartz a new career-high in rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Schartz, who rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Several Leopards players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Miller, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 20 yards and a touchdown. Miller also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up two sacks and making three total tackles. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Benjamin Bell, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Ellis will head out on the road to face off against Hill City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln, they will square off against Pike Valley on Friday. Lincoln is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
