Softball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy Find Success

Rocky Mount Academy's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the North Raleigh Christian Academy Knights.

Berkeley Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rocky Mount Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landry Miller, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in March of 2024. Martha Calhoun was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Rocky Mount Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Raleigh Christian Academy struck out 15 times.

The win got Rocky Mount Academy back to even at 7-7. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Rocky Mount Academy will host Arendell Parrott Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Durham Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
