Basketball Recap: Leetonia Starts off Right with Win over Academy for Urban Scholars

Leetonia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They really took it to the Academy for Urban Scholars Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-21 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Leetonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Johns led the charge by shooting 60% from the field on his way to 16 points and five assists. Those five assists gave Johns a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Brown, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points and three steals.

Academy for Urban Scholars' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Leetonia won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Badger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy for Urban Scholars, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on United at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
