Basketball Game Preview: Pasco Pirates vs. Weeki Wachee Hornets

Having just played yesterday, the Pasco Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Weeki Wachee Hornets at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pasco has three straight wins, Weeki Wachee has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Pasco will head into Wednesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 30-point drubbing they dealt Citrus on Wednesday. Pasco blew past Citrus, posting a 70-40 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Weeki Wachee played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Nature Coast Tech, falling 81-57.

Pasco's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Weeki Wachee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Pasco won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, slipping by Weeki Wachee 75-74. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pasco since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
