Softball Game Preview: Allen Eagles vs. Flower Mound Jaguars

Allen is 2-8 against Flower Mound since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Allen and Plano East had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles fell 9-5 to the Panthers on Monday. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Panthers since on Monday.

Chandler Chisum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Flower Mound came tearing into Thursday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hawks a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Flower Mound pushed their record up to 18-7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Allen, their loss dropped their record down to 14-17-1.

Allen took their win against Flower Mound in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
