Football Recap: Hickory Piles Up the Points Against Titusville

There's no place like home for Hickory, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed past the Titusville Rockets to the tune of 48-10 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won four in a row.

Hickory was led to victory by Kelvin Morrison and Christian Dungee. Morrison gained 164 total yards and four touchdowns, while Dungee threw for 147 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Morrison showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 53 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Marzair Gardlock, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gardlock, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Titusville lost, don't look at Jaydin O'Neill. Despite the final result, he rushed for 119 yards. O'Neill's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.

Hickory's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Titusville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Hickory didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-14 win against Grove City on the 9th. As for Titusville, they will welcome Slippery Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
