Softball Game Preview: Hillsboro Eagles vs. Mildred Eagles

Hillsboro will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Mildred at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Hillsboro fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Glen Rose on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-5.

Hillsboro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was H Craig, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mildred was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Dawson. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 15, 2025.

Hillsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mildred, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Hillsboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Mildred in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, sneaking past 10-9. Does Hillsboro have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mildred turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
