Football Game Preview: Skyline Hawks vs. Culpeper County Blue Devils + How To Watch

The Skyline Hawks will take on the Culpeper County Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Skyline will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Skyline is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Meridian with points to spare, taking the game 22-8.

Zayden Burks produced another solid effort rushing for 236 yards and three scores. He has become a key player for Skyline: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skyline was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian only rushed for 101.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culpeper County). Their defense stepped up to hand Goochland a 49-0 shutout on Friday. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 236th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Skyline better keep an eye on Caleb Green. He was instrumental in Culpeper County's win, rushing for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Colton Green, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Culpeper County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Brady Crowder led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Tyler Mcknight got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Skyline's record now sits at 8-3. As for Culpeper County, their record is now an identical 8-3.

Things could have been worse for Skyline, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-21 loss to Culpeper County in their previous meeting back in October of 2018. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
