Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Holly

Holly extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 12-6. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Oxford Wildcats. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 17-4 victory back in April.

Holly let Leah Murchie (2029) and Alyssa Bowman (2026) run wild. Murchie (2029) went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Bowman (2026) went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Murchie (2029) a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan McMullen (2026), who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Holly hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

As for Oxford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-13 record this season. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

On Oxford's side, Avery Speagle made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emily Hurst, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Holly will take on Lakeland in a tournament on Saturday. The Bronchos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Oxford, they will be taking part in a tournament against Battle Creek Academy at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.
