Baseball Recap: Hammond Tornadoes vs. Covington Lions
Hammond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Covington Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 last Friday.
Hammond saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Harland, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Covington, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will face off against St. John at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Covington, they will challenge Ponchatoula at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
