Baseball Recap: Rio Rico Triumphs

Rio Rico won the last time they faced Cholla and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hawks won by a run and slipped past the Chargers 7-6.

Rafael Echeverria made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had over his last 12 matches.

In other batting news, Jesus Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Rio Rico is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Delgado, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Rio Rico now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Cholla, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-5.

Rio Rico will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
