High school football rankings: St. Edward finishes No. 1 in final Ohio MaxPreps Top 25

Eagles win fifth state championships in school history.

The high school football season came to an end in Ohio over the weekend when St. Edward (Lakewood) defeated Springfield 23-13 in the Division I state championship game. The victory allowed the Eagles (15-1) to edge undefeated Chardon for the top spot in the final Ohio MaxPreps Top 25.

The title is the fifth for St. Edward, all of which have occurred since 2010. The Eagles have made 27 appearances in the state tournament since 1975.

Chardon won the Division III championship for the second straight season, posting a 26-0 record during that stretch. The title is the third in school history.
