Softball Recap: Penobscot Valley Has No Trouble Against Schenck

While Penobscot Valley put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Schenck. The Howlers put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 16-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Howlers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Lauren Veino made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Veino was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Penobscot Valley let Lila Cummings and Abby Farley run wild. Cummings went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Farley went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Farley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie LeBlanc, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Penobscot Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Penobscot Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Schenck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
