Basketball Recap: B O L D Beats Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop for Their Third Straight Win

B O L D won against Cedar Mountain last Thursday with 75 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The B O L D Warriors strolled past the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. The victory was familiar territory for the Warriors who have now won three contests in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead B O L D to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Penkert, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. The game was Penkert's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Owen Baumgartner, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.

B O L D smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

B O L D pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

B O L D won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Montevideo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matches -- so hopefully Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop likes a good challenge.
