Baseball Game Preview: Rocori Spartans vs. Brainerd Warriors

The Rocori Spartans will face off against the Brainerd Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rocori fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 4-3. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zander Folkerts was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Willmar hit Brainerd with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. Neither the Warriors nor the Cardinals could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for an 8-8 draw.

Brainerd's tie gives them a new season record of 2-0-1. As for Rocori, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Rocori's way against Brainerd when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Rocori made off with a 9-1 victory. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
