Softball Recap: Fountain Central's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Covington, Fountain Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Attica Red Ramblers by a score of 11-7. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lillian Bennett made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jacquelynn Weber was a standout: she fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Mallory Massey also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Fountain Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Fountain Central's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11. As for Attica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Fountain Central will be playing at home against North Montgomery at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargin' Chargers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Attica will be paying especially close attention to Fountain Central's game: after Fountain Central faces off against North Montgomery, they'll take on Attica again at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
