Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Sabine Brueck of North Country Union (Newport) is the 2023-24 Vermont MaxPreps Player of the Year for the second straight season. The 5-foot-8 junior guard led the Falcons to a 21-3 record and appearance in the Division 2 state championship game.

For the season, Brueck averaged 17.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 steals and 3.1 assists per game. She surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career last month.

As a junior, Brueck led North Country Union to a 24-0 record and state championship. She is also a soccer and track and field standout for the Falcons.
