Basketball Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short

St. Francis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 55-47 to the Trinity Blazers. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Blazers are ranked 67th).

When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, don't look at Riley Austin. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 16 en route to 22 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Quaranta, who posted ten points.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Trinity, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

St. Francis has already played their next matchup, a 48-44 loss against Resurrection on the 4th. As for Trinity, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-49 win against DePaul College Prep on the 4th.
