Softball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Fruitland

Fruitland won against Payette last Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Grizzlies came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 11-8. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Roxy Mason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, Maite Stringer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That hit marked the first that she got this season. Lydia Jangula was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Fruitland pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Payette, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fruitland will welcome La Grande at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Payette, they will challenge Caldwell at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
