Basketball Recap: Hebbronville Takes a Loss

Hebbronville lost against Santa Gertrudis Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hebbronville Longhorns fell 51-40 to the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Hebbronville still got an impressive performance from Oscar Carrillo, who posted 13 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Carrillo a new career-high in steals. Jeffery Shreve was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven boards and four steals.

Hebbronville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, with the win, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-15.

Hebbronville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 80-38 loss against Bishop on the 7th. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Orange Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Orange Grove will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Santa Gertrudis Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
