The Biglerville Canners will square off against the Bermudian Springs Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Biglerville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
Biglerville managed to slip by Annville-Cleona the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Biglerville came up short against Annville-Cleona on Friday, falling 10-4.
Biglerville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Black, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Black posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Aiden Hoffman was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Bermudian Springs waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Blue Devils. The two-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Branson Diller made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Skyler Gentzler tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Dylan Hubbard was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Cal Chubb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Biglerville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bermudian Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Biglerville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bermudian Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Biglerville couldn't quite finish off Bermudian Springs when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Will Biglerville have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
