Softball Recap: Burges' Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Burges unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Canutillo Eagles, falling 13-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-6 back in March.

Yoselin Chavira and Valeria Sanchez did some serious damage despite the final result: Chavira went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Sanchez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Kaitlyn Valdiviezo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Burges' defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Canutillo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9-1 record this season.

Burges will challenge Andress at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Canutillo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won four straight at home, while the Huskies won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
