Softball Recap: Poway Comes Up Short

Poway and Christian squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Poway had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Aubrey Stiritz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 25 consecutive appearances.

Poway has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-14-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Poway nor Christian have any future games scheduled.
