Basketball Recap: Calaveras Red Hawks vs. Bret Harte Bullfrogs
It was a good run, but the Calaveras Red Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to Bret Harte. Calaveras was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bullfrogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Calaveras still got an impressive performance from Corbin Curran, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Curran continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Moser was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Calaveras' loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Bret Harte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calaveras will take on the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sonora is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Bret Harte, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Buffaloes at 7:15 p.m. Amador is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
