Softball Game Preview: Springfield Cosmos vs. Long Trail

The Springfield Cosmos will head out to take on Long Trail at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Long Trail took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Springfield, who comes in off a win.

Springfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Windsor, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cosmos blew past the Yellowjackets 17-5 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cosmos considering their two-run performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Long Trail came up short against Leland & Gray on Monday, falling 10-4.

The win got Springfield back to even at 1-1. As for Long Trail, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Springfield skirted past Long Trail 1-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cosmos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
