League recap: Pelzer breaks off league-leading run for Bellevue East

A District 1 recap September 17, 2013

Brady Pelzer of Bellevue East ran for the longest rushing play in A District 1 this season against North Star last week. Pelzer's team beat the Navigators as he sprinted for 89 yards on the play and finished with 124 in all.

Bellevue East scaled the state rankings by moving to 78 from 105 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Jerry Lovell's team climbed the ranks as a result of besting North Star 35-7.

Creighton Prep's dynamic duo of Easton Stick and R.j. Urzendowski proved tough for Millard North to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stick threw for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns and Urzendowski had 114 yards receiving. James Scott helped Creighton Prep's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 58 yards.

The Junior Jays' dynamic duo of Stick and Urzendowski proved to be unstoppable against the Mustangs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Pelzer was the best running back in the league this week. Tristan Moore also contributed to the rushing game with 109 yards on the ground.

Stick put up the best numbers in passing as Creighton Prep defeated Millard North.

Urzendowski was the best receiver in A District 1 this week as Chris Nizzi's team beat Fred Petito's team.

Zak Schmitz made the biggest impact on defense this week as Omaha Northwest fell to Pius X. The 5-foot-8 sophomore.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Urzendowski. The Creighton Prep star has 23 catches for 270 yards.

Bryan fell to Omaha North 55-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
