Soccer Game Preview: Escondido vs. Fallbrook

The Escondido Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Fallbrook Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escondido is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.

Escondido is headed into Wednesday's matchup following a draw, the team's first since December 19. They and Mt. Carmel finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Friday.

David Ortiz was the only thing that stood between Escondido and a shutout considering he scored both of Escondido's goals, bringing his season total up to 16 goals.

San Marcos typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Fallbrook proved too difficult a challenge. Their defense stepped up to hand the Knights a 1-0 shutout. The victory was all the more spectacular given Fallbrook's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 386th, while San Marcos are ranked 61st).

Escondido's draw gives them a new season record of 7-2-3. As for Fallbrook, they now have a winning record of 4-3-3.
