Baseball Game Preview: Hoffman Estates Hawks vs. Palatine Pirates

Hoffman Estates is 2-8 against Palatine since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Hawks will square off against the Pirates at 4:45 p.m.

Hoffman Estates fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Buffalo Grove on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bison by a score of 5-4.

Meanwhile, Palatine waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They skirted past the Grenadiers 8-6.

Toby Peterson was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 12 matchups. Jett Greiwe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Hoffman Estates' defeat dropped their record down to 8-19. As for Palatine, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.

Hoffman Estates suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Palatine in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
