Softball Game Preview: Mountain Crest Mustangs vs. Weber Warriors

The Mountain Crest Mustangs will face off against the Weber Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Mountain Crest and six for Weber dating back to last season.

On Tuesday, Mountain Crest didn't have quite enough to beat Green Canyon and fell 15-14. Even if the Mustangs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Leila Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Mya Walker, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Mountain Crest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Weber came up short against West Field on Tuesday, falling 26-1.

Gabby Montgomery made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Montgomery is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Weber's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mountain Crest, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain Crest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Weber struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
