Baseball Recap: Tipton Takes Down Taylor in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Tipton had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Taylor Titans 6-0 on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Devils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Aaden Gibbs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tipton is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Gibbs was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Nasser, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Tipton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14 otherwise. Kellen Hussong was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Tipton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Taylor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-20.

As of now, neither Tipton nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
