Basketball Recap: Del Valle Comes Up Short

Del Valle was the 42-39 winner over Eastwood when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Del Valle Conquistadores were outmatched by the Eastwood Troopers and fell 66-30. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Troopers are ranked 184th).

Del Valle's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dylan Gonzalez, who posted five points, and Andres Mei, who put up six points. Those six points gave Mei a new career-high.

Devin Falk-Ramirez was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds for Eastwood. Falk-Ramirez's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riley Rodriguez, who had nine points.

With the loss, Del Valle broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7. As for Eastwood, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Del Valle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-40 win against Eastlake on the 13th. As for Eastwood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-37 victory against Hanks on the 13th.
