America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2022 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Providence Day (Charlotte) is the 2022 MaxPreps North Carolina High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 185-pound junior quarterback helped the Chargers go 12-1 and capture the NCISAA Division I state championship.
Davis completed 221 of 305 pass attempts for 3,425 yards and 43 touchdowns against just six interceptions this season. He added a pair of rushing scores.
In a 55-13 win over Charlotte Christian (Charlotte) in the title game, Davis completed 18 of 28 attempts for 350 yards and six touchdowns.
Davis threw for a season-high 470 yards with three touchdowns in a 24-21 win over Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Rabun Gap, Ga.) in October, connecting on 28 of 42 attempts.
Regarded as the No. 2 quarterback prospect and No. 15 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports, Davis holds 31 offers including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be released January 10.
