It was fun while it lasted, but Lakeside's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Friday. They were beaten by the Brunswick Pirates 61-34. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.
Despite the loss, Lakeside still got an impressive performance from Ty Jones, who rushed for 203 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in rushing yards. 131 of those passing yards were hauled in by Heze Kent, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Lakeside fell to 7-1. As for Brunswick, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
A feisty cat fight will be fought when Panthers faces off against Bradwell Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
