Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Northwestern walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 58-40 victory over the Gaffney Indians on Friday. The win was just business as usual for the Trojans, who after 13 games remain undefeated this season.

Finley Polk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 339 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 94 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in September. Kameron Vance was Polk's top target, picking up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwestern was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gaffney only rushed for 68 rushing yards.

Northwestern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Baxter and Mason Grier. Baxter also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven.

Despite the loss, Gaffney still got an impressive performance from Jaiden McDowell, who picked up 122 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. McDowell showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 50 yards. Jayvon Gilmore was another key player, having thrown for 424 yards and onetouchdown.

Northwestern pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Gaffney, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.

Northwestern will head out on the road to challenge Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Irmo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.6 points per game this season. Gaffney does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
