Soccer Game Preview: Chaparral vs. Highland

The Chaparral Firebirds are taking a road trip to challenge the Highland Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Chaparral's offense. They came up short against Fairfax on Saturday, falling 5-0. That's two games in a row now that the Firebirds have lost by exactly five goals.

Meanwhile, Highland won against Millennium back in December of 2024 with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. Highland walked away with a 3-1 victory over Desert Mountain. The win was all the more spectacular given the Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Wolves are ranked 24th).

Highland hit Desert Mountain with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Liam Carpenter, Andrew Earnheart, and Crew Campbell.

The victory made it two in a row for Highland and bumps their season record up to 2-3-1. As for Chaparral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3-1.

Chaparral skirted past Highland 1-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chaparral since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
