The Rialto Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Monrovia Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Rialto's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Muir's usually-dominant pitching crew. Rialto blew past Muir 11-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Izzeah Zepeda was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Zepeda was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Aydin Ayala was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hugo Sanchez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Rialto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muir only posted a batting average of .211.
Meanwhile, Monrovia had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Brahmas a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats have won three games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Monrovia also got a great performance from James Quesenbery as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Quesenbery has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Monrovia let Isaias Hernandez and Julian Fernandez run wild. Hernandez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Fernandez scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Tristan Oandasan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Monrovia's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rialto, their record is now 2-0.
