After flying high against Smoky Hill on Saturday, Mullen came back down to earth. The Mustangs fell 26-19 to the Columbine Rebels on Monday. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Steffi Thomas threw for 133 yards on 12 of 23 attempts. Claire Hellmuth was her top target, picking up 87 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Ella Rieben was nothing short of spectacular for Columbine: she threw for 312 yards and four TDs while completing 74.4% of her passes, and also rushed for 65 yards. Those 312 passing yards gave Rieben a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Annalee Rippe, who picked up 120 receiving yards and one score.

Mullen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Columbine, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will square off against Eaglecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbine, they will face off against Chatfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
