Baseball Recap: Andover Finds Playoff Glory Versus Blaine

Andover extended their postseason success on Saturday against Blaine. They came out on top against the Bengals by a score of 10-5. This was a revenge game for the Huskies: when they faced off against the Bengals on May 13th, they had to take a 8-3 defeat.

Wyatt Myers made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-7 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since May 2nd.

In other pitching news, Andover got a great performance from Jack Simpson as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Simpson has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Drew Law and Cale Rowe did most of the damage at the plate: Law went 2-for-6 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Rowe went 3-for-6 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Rowe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Wallin, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one run.

Andover pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Blaine, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bengals beat Andover by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.
