Baseball Game Preview: Kutztown Cougars vs. Brandywine Heights Area Bullets

The Kutztown Cougars will head out to square off against the Brandywine Heights Area Bullets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Kutztown is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since March 27th on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over Hamburg. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Brandywine Heights Area sidestepped Antietam for a 3-1 win.

Zach Szoke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Brandywine Heights Area let Jaxton Henry and Tommy Moore run wild. Henry went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Brandywine Heights Area is 2-1 when Henry posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Bollinger, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Brandywine Heights Area's victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Kutztown, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Kutztown skirted past Brandywine Heights Area 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
