Basketball Recap: Wheatmore Comes Up Short

Wheatmore played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 82-39 loss at the hands of the Randleman Tigers. The Warriors have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Wheatmore lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christian Hildreth, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Hildreth a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Coggins, who scored two points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Wheatmore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

It was another big night for Tyshaun Goldston, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards for Randleman. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Farlow, who put up eight points.

Wheatmore's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10. As for Randleman, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Trinity the next time they take the court. Randleman will host Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Wheatmore will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
