Volleyball Recap: Ocean Lakes Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Ocean Lakes was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Tallwood on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dolphins fell just short of the Kellam Knights by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Dolphins were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Kellam scored at least 11 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 21-25, 15-11.

LYLA SHANNON paced Ocean Lakes' offense, picking up nine kills. SHANNON got some help from CARMELA MENDOZA and her 25 assists. Finally, SANTINA MARTCHEVA kept Ocean Lakes' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Kellam was led to victory by Giulia Alison and Emmie Irving. Alison had 26 digs and four aces, while Irving had ten digs and five aces. Those 26 digs gave Alison a new career-high.

Ocean Lakes' loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Kellam, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Ocean Lakes has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Princess Anne on the 9th. As for Kellam, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Cox on the 9th.
