Basketball Game Preview: Front Range Baptist Falcons vs. Weldon Valley Warriors

The Front Range Baptist Falcons will face off against the Weldon Valley Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Front Range Baptist is headed into Thursday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-36 heartbreaker at the hands of Loveland Classical. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 14-9 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ethan Pierce, who posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Benjamin VanDenBerghe, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Front Range Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 33 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Weldon Valley hadn't done well against Briggsdale recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Weldon Valley walked away with a 43-35 win over Briggsdale.

Front Range Baptist's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Weldon Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Front Range Baptist beat Weldon Valley 48-36 when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Will Front Range Baptist repeat their success, or does Weldon Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
