Baseball Recap: Portales Takes a Loss

After flying high against Gallup on Friday, Portales came back down to earth. The Rams fell just short of the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Elks/Elkettes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Adam Duran was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Dallas Tivis was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Portales has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Pojoaque Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-10.

Portales wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Cobre on the 3rd. As for Pojoaque Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 19-8 loss against Moriarty on the 2nd.
