Basketball Recap: Fredonia Hillbillies vs. Salamanca Warriors
While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, Fredonia was not quite Salamanca's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 60-51 to the Salamanca Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Hillbillies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while the Warriors are ranked 112th).

Several Hillbillies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brennan Lincoln, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Lincoln has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Rj Koopman, who had 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
The defeat snapped Fredonia's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-7 record. As for Salamanca, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Fredonia is taking a road trip to square off against Olean at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salamanca, they will be playing at home against East Aurora at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
