Milton proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 19) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Tate Aggies 9-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 back in March.

The team relied heavily on Savannah Gardner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Hawthorne, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Milton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Tate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will take on Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tate, they will challenge Fort Walton Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Aggies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
