Softball Recap: Douglas Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Douglas won the last time they faced Rio Rico and things went their way on Saturday too. Douglas was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Rio Rico. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Abigail Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Matea Cross was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Douglas pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Rio Rico, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Douglas didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-3 win against Flowing Wells on the 22nd. As for Rio Rico, they will be playing at home against Sahuarita at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sahuarita will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Rio Rico surely won't give up without a fight.
