Baseball Recap: Purvis Tornadoes vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds
Thursday just wasn't the day for Purvis's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ocean Springs Greyhounds on Thursday. The Tornadoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.
Purvis got a good showing from Kade Lawler, who didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Purvis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Parker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Purvis' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ocean Springs, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
Looking ahead, Purvis will face off against Bay at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ocean Springs, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on George County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
