Softball Game Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans

The Providence Day Chargers will head out to challenge the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wesleyan Christian Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Providence Day, who comes in off a win.

Providence Day's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Metrolina Christian Academy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

Rachel Lyons made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Lyons was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Glosson, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ana Arronte, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Wesleyan Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Charlotte Latin, falling 11-0.

Providence Day's record is now 2-0. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Providence Day skirted past Wesleyan Christian Academy 8-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Day since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
