            Basketball Recap: Wimberley Texans vs. Carrizo Springs Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wimberley had no problem doing just that  on Saturday. They came out on top against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats by a score of  65-58. Given the Texans' advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings  (they are ranked 246th, while the Wildcats are ranked 653rd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

 It was another big night for  Paul Gumbert-Mendoza, who  went 10-for-16  to rack up 34 points. His evening made it 13 games in a row in which  he has scored at least 16 points.  Gavin Olmer was another key player,  putting up eight  points and 11  boards.
Wimberley has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-9 record  this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 70.3 points over those games. Carrizo Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 20-14.
 Looking ahead, Wimberley will face off against Wharton at 8:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Wharton will roll in looking for their  ninth straight  win, something Wimberley surely won't give up without a fight. Carrizo Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
