Basketball Recap: Victoria Cobra HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Victoria Cobra HomeSchool was the 67-60 winner over Austin Royals HomeSchool when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Victoria Cobra HomeSchool Cobra took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Austin Royals HomeSchool Royals on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cobra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1373rd, while the Royals are ranked 643rd).

Despite the loss, Victoria Cobra HomeSchool still got an impressive performance from Hyrum Ripa, who went 6 of 12 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Ripa has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Jacob Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven boards and six steals.

Victoria Cobra HomeSchool is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Austin Royals HomeSchool, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-13.

Victoria Cobra HomeSchool didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-45 loss against FBCHA on the 18th. Austin Royals HomeSchool has also already played their next match, a 53-31 defeat against Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes on the 18th.
